Erika Magdalena Pineda
Erika Magdalena Pineda is co-founder, current board member and former chief financial officer at JeepNeed Inc., a nonprofit that brings hands-on science education to public schools in the Philippines. She is currently a first year medical student and member of the Mindanao-based medical outreach group Criados. She will be creating the health and disease diagnostic curriculum for JeepNeed this summer.
A graduate of Fordham University in New York City, Pineda majored in Psychology and completed the International Service Learning program, which allowed her and a small team of students to run a fair trade and microfinance business connecting artisans in Kenya with consumers in the United States. She traveled to Kenya to consult for two fair trade groups and to process microloans with two groups of women in the slums of Nairobi.
While in college, Pineda worked for several nonprofits that dealt with after-school programs, HIV and AIDS awareness, and fair trade product marketing.
