Jose Sixto Raphael Dantes III
Actor Dingdong Dantes set up the YesPinoy Foundation in August 2009 to help bridge gaps in the country’s education system, initially by providing full college scholarships. He has helped lead the foundation in assisting as many out-of-school youth as possible gain access to education.
Dantes’ philanthropic work has extended beyond providing full college scholarships, however. Together with a team from the Philippine Marine Corps, where he is a reservist, and volunteers from his foundation, Dantes carried out relief operations in communities devastated by Typhoon Ondoy. He also supported National Bookstore’s Project Aklat, where school supplies were donated to typhoon victims.
For his work with the YesPinoy Foundation, Dantes received the Youth Leadership Achievement award from the Department of Education in September 2010 and was recognized as one of People Asia magazine’s 2010 People of the Year awardee.
Dantes is an avid supporter of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, using his celebrity status to generate public interest and assistance in promoting the country’s culture and arts.
