Paolo Benigno Aquino IV
A youth leader and social entrepreneur, Paolo Benigno Aquino IV has helped thousands of families lift themselves out of poverty through Hapinoy, a program under MicroVentures Inc. that helps mothers turn their sari-sari stores into successful small businesses. In 2012, he was awarded as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World.
The Hapinoy Program won the U.N. Project Inspire Award in 2011, beating more than 400 social enterprises worldwide. That same year, Aquino and MicroVentures co-founder Mark Joaquin Ruiz were named Asian Social Entrepreneur of the Year by the World Economic Forum’s Schwab Foundation for Social Enterprises.
In 2010, Aquino was recognized as one of The Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines, under the social enterprise and community development category. He was also named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2006.
